Gah! It's 1:15 am and I can't sleep. I took some stupid cough medicine and instead of making me sleepy it's got me wired.

I'm a bit better today. The chills and fever (101.4!!) seem to be gone. My throat hurts. My head hurts and feels funny. Basically, I still feel like crap. UGH I hope I'm better by Sunday. I really want to take Valerie to the parade!!!!

Val keeps standing up all by herself. It's so funny... she'll stop crawling, gradually sit and squat down, and oh SO slowly lift herself to standing in the middle of the floor. We've been making a huge deal about it, clapping and saying YAY!! And she grins and giggles. I'm hoping it will encourage her to keep doing it and take that first step...

Of course, I woke up sick this morning. :-( Just in time for Mardi Gras weekend. It looks like I'll miss Bunko tonight too -- SUCKS!!!

I have some antibiotics left over from a while back, so I'm going to take those. (I knew I had a viral infection, so I never took the antibiotics given.) It's not like I can just go to the doctor -- no babysitter. I'm wondering if I have strep or bronchitis.

My throat is killing me. I'm achy. I feel terrible. :-(
I have a sore throat. Again.

Dear Valerie,

Exactly 14 months ago today you were born!! Happy "birthday!!"

I love you very much,

P.S. You can start walking when ever you want to. Momma won't mind.
Clint is on his way to Houston... again. It's me and Val (again) for the next couple of days. *sigh* He'll be home Thursday just in time so I can go to this month's Bunko party!

Yesterday I went to the gym for the first time in a week. We've been eating crap for the past week or so - not good!!! It doesn't help that there's a (from scratch) carrot cake sitting in my fridge. I've GOT to lose the rest of this baby weight. There's got to be a way to do it. Next month will be one year since I started at the gym. A whole year of going faithfully about 3-5 times every week. The few times I missed were with good reason - either I was sick or Val was. And I still have a ways to go to get where I was before. Dunno. I need to find some motivation to get serious and stick with it long term.

I REALLY wanted to go to the parade today. But it's so cold and windy. With Val and I just getting over being sick, it's probably best we stay home. *sigh* But I really wanted to go! *whines* We missed Mardi Gras completely last year since Val was just 2 months old. Next weekend BEST be BETTER or ELSE!!!!! I told Clint not to plan anything else because Saturday and Sunday we will be at the parades!!

So yesterday was really sweet. We were up early with Val of course. Clint ran to the store to get "supplies" for the surprise. I kind of knew what it was. Hee. I got dressed and left the house at 10:20 and didn't come home until almost 5:00!!!! NICE! The time to myself was probably the best part of the day!!! I feel bad for saying that because it was our anniversary, so part of me thinks we should have spent more of it together.. but oh well. I went to the gym and did 30 minutes of cardio. Then I did a little shopping here and there. I picked up a few things for Val, a new set of sheets, and some PJs for me. I went to the mall and got a mani and a pedi. Ahhhhh so nice and relaxing!! It was so weird running around with out Val. No stroller, no diaper bag... I felt empty handed. At 4:30 I decided it was close enough to 5:00 to come home. I was almost home when Clint called and said he was finished.

When I got back, Clint had the dining room table cleared off. (we NEVER eat in there!!) And had a dozen red roses and some heart shaped tea lights waiting for me. He had me sit at the table while he served dinner. His original plan was to have a friend in cullinary school cook for us while he was going to clean house, but the guy had a funeral to attend, so Clint did the cooking. The house is still a mess. LOL! He had also asked someone to watch Val while we ate, but she wasn't able to. Clint made a ceasar salad, bread, crab cakes, and spinach stuffed chicken. (not sure why he chose that, because I don't care for spinach and he knows it. ick.) I ate around the spinach and it was still good though. We had fruit salad and of course my cake for dessert. I know it was a lot of work. Anyone with kids knows it's not easy to cook anything fancy while taking care of a baby, a sick baby at that... Clint did great! It was wonderful to have someone else do the cooking for a change. I SO appreciated having an entire day to myself too!!

(I guess I got my answer... "When do I get a day off? -- February 14!!! LOL!)

Before I recap yesterday... Today I feel like CRAP. Valerie is still sick and now I've got it. Yesterday afternoon my throat started feeling scratchy. I downed as much Airborne as possible before bed. During the night my throat felt like it was on fire. I made at least 3 glasses of hot honey lemon tea trying to get some relief. Poor Valerie was up all night long. She's medicated on a coctail of Tylenol/Motrin, Hyland's Teething tablets, Zithromax, and some kind of cough/decongestant liquid. Yet she's still screaming and chomping on her hands (FOUR molars are coming in at once and her gums are all bloody. Ow.) None of our old standbys are soothing her and she just cries and cries. I had to get up at least three times with her last night. Once was for over an hour! Then she was up at 5:30 crying and at 6:00 I said to hell with it and just got up. My immune system is just crap since Val was born and I catch everything. Not sure why or what to do about it. Our little princess is sound alseep right now, of course. I'm not one of those people who can just lay down and sleep, so there's no point in trying to nap because she'll wake up just as I dose off!! I hope this phase passes soon and that we are both well. (We have to be well this weekend - it's Mardi Gras kick off!!!)

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

And a special Happy Anniversary to my wonderful Husband!!! XOXOXOXO

Clint just left to go buy "supplies" for today's suprise. Heehee. I'm not sure what I'm going to do today. I'm actually looking forward to having the day to myself!! I just hope Clint can handle his surprise AND Valerie all by himself.

I took Val to the doctor yesterday. She's fine, but I was worried because she was all snotty and had goo leaking out the corners of her eyes. I got some antibiotics for her and a decongestant. She's acting normal but just sounds so stuffy. Her appointment was at 8:45 and we were not seen until 10:15!! I was so annoyed. The office opens at 8:00, so how can they be an hour and a half behind after 45 minutes?!? It's hard enough waiting with a baby, muchless a SICK baby. Val was tired and so cranky by the time we saw the doctor, which took all of 5 minutes. I LOVE our peditrician, but they're always running so far behind schedule.

Here's my first cake baked with my KITCHENAID mixer!! And the flowers from last week...

Our anniversary dinner was nice! We went to Cafe' Jo Jo's in Morgan City, and I have to say I'm impressed. It's very small and they don't have a big menu, but it's very nice. Expensive - but it's not like we drop $75 on dinner very often. I had a salad, crab cakes, shrimp alfredo, and bread pudding. Clint had a salad, crab cakes, a seafood stuffed steak (special of the day), and bread pudding. His steak was to DIE for!!! I would definitely go back.

After dinner, I called to check on Val and she was fine. We were going to see a movie, but when we got to the theatre the line to get in was crazy! It was all the way down the side of the building, and it was already 7:00 (showtime.) There really wasn't anything showing that we wanted to see that bad, so we decided to skip it. We came home and watched Madascar instead. Rather Clint watched it while I fell asleep!!

It was a great night out though. Just having a special dinner at a grown-up restaurant was more than enough.

OH and I was given instructions that on Tuesday I am to leave the house by 11am and I'm not to return until 5:00. Hmmmmm!!!!!

For all the Netflixers out there -- This explains a lot, like why Madagascar has been #1 on my list for 3 months with "very long wait."

Friday, February 10, 2006

It's midnight and I can't sleep. Even though I've been up since 5:30 am!!

The car is sold! They actually paid us in CASH. Yes... real paper money. Yikes.

Valerie is getting sick. :-( I think she may have pink eye! One of her eyes is gooey and puffy. Maybe it's just irritated or a clogged tear duct. She's starting to sound congested and snotty, though. Why do these things always happen late on a Friday?

Tomorrow we have (had) dinner reservations to celebrate our anniversary. We probably won't go if Val is sick.

Thursday, February 09, 2006

If all goes well, the (old) car will be sold tomorrow!! I'm amazed at how many people who asked about it, and all I did was send out an email saying to forward it to anyone who'd be interested!! My neighbor's aunt and uncle came by today. They want it and are coming tomorrow morning so we can sign over the title.

Val has been SO cranky lately. She has at least three molars coming in at once. Poor baby! I don't know what to do with her sometimes. Two days in a row I had to leave the gym early because she was screaming. Not crying, but just sitting there YELLING. Obviously mad about something, but who knows what... I really wanna fix what ever is wrong, but I don't know.

Thanks for visiting -- at least somebody is thinking of me

I thought of another person that my "secret visitor" could be. She was always nice. So cool if it's you!! But then again, I don't think she knew, unless someone else told her. Hmmm.

But THEN, my partner in crime on the inside caught a glimpse of suspect #1 surfing on a page that looked an awful lot like mine. Hmmm.

Still.... my curiosity is spiked....

The car... and and update

Well... my mom GAVE me her car!! *faints* I'm still in shock. This is car #4 that they've bought me. After a year and a half, she decided it was just too big for her. Last week she bought a Civic. I knew she was looking and had hinted she was giving her car to us, but she had never come right out and said it.

So, we are now the proud owers of a light gold 2004 Honda Accord in brand new condition with just barely 10,000 miles on it. Completely paid for!!!

Pssst If anybody out there is interested in a very clean 1996 Accord with low miles in EXCELLENT condition... let me know! Ironically, this was also my mom's car... which she sold when she bought the gold one. Then 6 months later, re-bought it from the guy who purchased it and gave it to us!

Yesterday I took Valerie to her first playdate. I found a local playgroup of SAHMs, and I wanted to check it out. Everyone met at the park for a picnic lunch. It was about what I expected. Some of the moms were nice and talked, introduced themselves. Some of the pretty much ignored us. Val had a GREAT time! I had an exhausting time! LOL! Val was the only crawler there though. :-( There were a few tiny babies, but most were older and walking. It was still nice to get out though. The next event is a mom's night out, but it looks like Clint will be in Houston.
