New look!

So I did some "remodeling". Ha. How do y'all like the new look? I may change it when I find something I like better, or when I have the time to design my own.

I checked out the gym's West location today. Ummm NO. I won't be going back there. It's night and day comparing the East and West gyms. The East (where I go) is spacious, clean, modern, has new equipment, working equipment, is well lit, and is comfortable. The West is half the size with all the machines jammed on top of each other. Not to mention it's ancient equipment. Most of it looks like it's from the 80's!! Paint is chipping off the frames and weights. It's dim and crowded. Five cardio machines were broken. The ladies gym is just awful. I didn't even bother checking out the daycare room because I did not like being there. We'll stay where we are until the summer when I'll check out the YMCA....

Last night was the mom's night out for my playgroup. It was such fun!! (I managed to convince my parents to sleep over and babysit.) It was a wedding night and we all brought our wedding photos to share. Neat, huh? I loved looking at all the pictures. The food was really good too! Most of all I enjoyed the company. I still feel like such a newbie and I'm not sure where I fit in. This was my first mom's night event though. It's different without everyone chasing after their little ones. I guess it will take a little more time and I'm still getting to know everyone. It's doing me a lot of good just doing something social though. It's hard being a mom at home 24/7. I actually felt like a person for a while and not just a mom, (not that anyone is "just" a mom!!) if that makes sense. My batteries have been recharged. LOL!! I would like to go to the next mom's night, but it is out of town and I really dislike driving at night. I don't really know anyone to invite myself along to carpool with... Oh well. June night out is at my house so I have that to look forward to.

In other news... completely opposite of the above.... I was overlooked for yet another Bunco invitation. Yeah, big surprise, huh? This time they are having a baby shower for the girl who did not invite me last time. I don't think I will be going. I really would like to know what's the deal with that whole thing though. I don't get it. It would just be nice to be included. ALL of the time, not just sometimes.

Hello Melanie,
Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Customer Care.

1. I have to say I am thoughourly impressed.
2. I'm in shock that I got a response with in a couple hours.
3. AND that it worked!!!!!
4. There is an internet god. Thank you.

So mad.

Someone hacked my melliemelo Yahoo account. I can't log in. The password recovery information has been changed also. I didn't have anything important there. I mainly used Yahoo IM to chat with Clint and my mom. It's just the idea... I'm melliemelo!! ME!! And now it might be taken from me... forever. I contacted yahoo support, but you have to match your security info EXACTLY. And well, it's been 8-9 years since I opened that account and I have NO idea when the last time I updated it was!!! We've moved, changed email addresses, etc. The chances of me providing exactly the correct information is slim. *sigh*

The stupid babysitter wasn't at the gym again today. That makes 5 times in the last two weeks she wasn't there or was late. Today there wasn't anyone to cover for her, so I went all the way there for nothing. I wish they'd get someone more dependable. I know it's probably a minium wage 20 hr a week job, but STILL. If there's no sitter, I can't go, along with the other moms, so they'll lose our membership money. I was SO aggravated this morning. Val had gone back to sleep, so I had to wake her up when it was time to leave! I could have let my baby sleep. It's rather frustrating to wake up your child, get her dressed, get yourself dressed, pack a diaper bag, and drive across town for nothing. I may start going in the evenings (different girl babysitting) OR go to the other location and see how the daycare is over there.

I pretty much sat around and did nothing today. I napped when Val napped. Watched TV with her. Ate candy (shame on me.) Made a huge pot of slow simmered spaghetti for our supper. I attempted to take Val swimming, but she didn't want anything to do with her pool. Dunno why. She loved it the first time, but the past few times she wanted to get out as soon as we got in. We need some pool toys. Maybe the water is too cold for her. It won't stay that way for long, as it is already almost 90 degrees every afternoon!!!

Clint and I are thinking about having another barbecue. Once a year or so, we like to have some kind of get together at our house. It's the only opportunity we have to catch up with some of our friends! Not that we have that many people to invite. Just the "usual suspects" as Clint puts it. Clint will try to take a week of vacation once he's back from Houston. Maybe we can plan something for then... we'll see.

Not again.

Now, of course, we are worried Clint may be transferred to Houston. That's just not an option. :-(
I hate my husband's job. Well, that's exaggerating. It annoys me. Clint promised me he'd be home at certain times. I made plans... appointments. Some of them CAN NOT be changed. I have to attend next week's mom's night out since I am HOSTING the next one. I HAVE to attend choir practice and the concert we're working towards. I also have doctor's appointments that need to be kept. Some guy in the Houston office quit, so they want Clint over there for the next TWO or THREE WEEKS. Now I'm stuck with no babysitter. The only option is going to be drive to Morgan City and leave Val with my parents. Drive back here and do what I've got to do. Drive back to MC to pick her up, then drive back home. *sigh* I know it's Clint's job and he can't help it. I just never get to do anything. I can't make any kind of plans. We were supposed to go to the beach in the next couple of weeks. I sure am glad I haven't made reservations yet, because it looks like we can't go anyway. :-(

I drove all the way accross town to the gym this morning to find the babysitter was a no-show. Again. She was doing great for a while and was there every day. Last week she was running late one morning. Yesterday she was not there. Today she was not there. The girl covering for her had an appointment and had to leave at 10:30. It was 10:05 when I walked in. She called the sitter to find out when she was coming in, and she said it would be a while because she was washing her hair. WTF? You're not coming to work because of that?? So annoyed. I wish they'd get someone more reliable. I pay to go there because it's the only gym with free babysitting. If there's no sitter, I can't go. I would complain, but it wouldn't do any good. The girl who manages the place doesn't even bother to go in anymore because she opened up a bar. They just don't care. I just renewed my membership a month ago, so I'm stuck there until August. I think I may look into the YMCA next time. They have daycare, and it's about the same price. It's a bit farther drive to get there though.

Just dropping off some pictures.

Easter was nice. Valerie loved her basket from the Easter bunny. She's so NOT interested in any candy. She managed to unrap some chocolate and smooshed it all over but not once did she taste it. I guess that's a good thing though!!

Not much else to say right now. Other than it's been really hot. I think we'll set up the pool tomorrow.

Today was the playgroup's Easter egg hunt. There was a great turn out - about 25-30 moms and their kids! Val had so much fun. Not with the eggs, with trying to dig in everyone's things. I spent more time chasing after her and pulling her away from other people's diaper bags, food, and toys. She also wanted to play on the park equipment so bad, but there were too many big kids on it. A couple busses from a school were there also... If Val was walking maybe I would have let her, but with her crawling on the ground those kids would stumble right over her, step on her fingers, etc.. I'm pretty exhausted from chasing after her!! I still feel a little out of place in the group. Like an outsider. I'm still new and don't know that many moms very well. I don't really have anyone to talk to. It's hard to really talk to anyone while keeping close watch on Valerie though. I guess it will get better in time... Here's a few pics from today...

Wow, Val has a whopping 8 votes. LOL! If anyone from here voted, thanks a lot!!

I'm so tired. Val did not want to sleep last night. I had choir practice, so I think my not being home threw her schedule off. Clint said she kept calling "mama" while I was gone. She was up countless times just whining. I tried everything, including putting her in our bed for a bit. She'd sleep for a bit, just kept waking up over and over!! And of course she was wide awake this morning earlier than her normal time. I just wish I knew what made her so restless! I hope she sleeps tonight since tomorrow is the big Easter Egg hunt.

Over the weekend I ran into a former co-worker. The first thing she said to me was that I had lost weight!!! Maybe if enough people tell me that I might start believing it.... or not. My high school friends told me the same thing and went on about how I was so much smaller now than in high school. I guess not many people can say that, so it must mean I'm doing something right!! Although lately I've been eating a ton of junk and I already bought too much Easter candy. It's for "Valerie" though... yeah right!!!!!

We had such a great time at the play date today! I enjoyed it so much. I really like the moms. Valerie had so much fun just being around the other kids. We decorated our Easter egg containers, ate, and sat around chatting. I had my camera, but I never got a chance to take it out. I wish I would have. Valerie was so wired afterwards. She slept about 10 minutes on our way home and was up for hours bouncing off the walls. I'm surprised she went to sleep with out any fuss tonight. I'm glad too because I'm exhausted!!

Here I am, home alone while Clint is in Houston. It's just so... quiet. Especially at times like now when Val is asleep. I was really bad tonight and ordered myself a pizza. According to my order history online, the last time I ordered pizza was in February 2005!! So I guess it's ok to have some. Valerie ate some and liked it. Her first taste of pizza ever!!

Valerie did not want to sleep last night. I think the time change and Clint being away has thrown off her schedule. It was 10pm though and she was wide awake. Myself, on the other hand, was about to fall asleep standing up!! I put her in bed and let her cry for a while. Only she wasn't crying -- just yelling. When she's upset she gets red in the face and sweats. Her hair is usually soaked. I think seeing her like that bothers me more than her yelling. Finally I gave up and let her watch a little tv and have a snack. Then I gathered up all the pillows around the house to block the edge of our bed so she could lay down with me. Don't you know as soon as I put her next to me and turned out the light she layed down and went to sleep!! I let her sleep for about an hour before bringing her to her bed. She slept all night after that!

Tomorrow we're going to a playgroup event at someone's house. We're going to make Easter baskets out of milk jugs. I hope it's fun -- for me and Valerie! Next week is an Easter egg hunt at the park.

We took Valerie to her first fair yesterday. She loved it, but then she loves going almost anywhere!! Clint decided to play a fishing game to win her a toy. It was one of those plastic pools with rubber ducks with magnets on them, and you used a fishing pole to "catch" them. $5 for three ducks... The guy grabs three different color stuffed puppies (that cost all of 50 cents! lol) and let Val choose which one she wanted. As soon as she saw them, she said "pup-pa!" (translation: puppies!) And she picked the blue one. It was cute and I was impressed she recognized them as dogs.

Clint left for Houston this morning and won't be home until Friday. We've been having a few "off" days. *sigh* Maybe taking a break from each other will do us some good. Not that makes him being gone any easier...
