Could this day get any better?

I had to go to Michael's to get supplies for my cake class and then to the grocery store to get stuff to make lasagna for the playgroup. I'm on Hwy 182, coming up on the traffic light at Coteau Road. The light had just turned green, but there was a long line of cars waiting... so I press my brakes and slowed down. I don't even think I was completely stopped... when BAM!!! Some bitch rear ended me!!!! OMG!!! Valerie screamed. I panicked & hyperventilated.... pulled over to the shoulder. Looked at Val, she seemed ok. Grabbed my phone and called Clint. Then I called 911. They put me through to the state police then the city police. It took 20 minutes for them to come. The woman was saying I had slammed on my brakes. Um no... I just sloooowed down. It was normal lunch time traffic. Stop and go at an intersection. Maybe I had stopped? But I was stopped because the 10 cars in front of me had stopped... slowed down... whatever. It was so fast I don't know for sure. The trooper said she was following too close. I'm sure she got a ticket. I hope so.

Luckily we are okay. Valerie seems to be all right. She didn't cry like anything hurt when I moved her. I'm sure she got quite a jolt. I know I'm pretty shook up. The damage is not too bad. My trunk is dented and my fender is popped out a bit. But still... my brand new car...

You have to replace the car seat now (technically) .. regardless of what type of accident you are in the seat could be compromised without seeing the problem. The insurance (if you are claiming) should pick it up -- actually HERS should.

    UGH the whole situation stinks

  2. Glad everyone is okay! I'm sure she got a ticket since she rear-ended you and it is almpst impossible to prove that the car ahead had stopped fast, which you didn't, but no one wants to really ever admit that they did it. It does sound familiar that they require that a car seat be replaced after an accident. I don't know who they are but I remember hearing it.

  3. I am so sorry about the car, Val.
But I am glad to hear that everything is ok with you and Val.

This kind of accident always makes me feel so nervous and annoyed...
