Valerie is about 99% potty trained! yay! She hasn't had an accident in days. She tells me when she needs to go with out any prompting at all. Of course, she still wants candy when she's done. And tells me to jump up and down. lol! She knows when she has on a diaper or pull up that it's "ok" to go in it, but if she's in her big girl undies she knows to use the potty. I'm not quite brave enough to take her out and about (shopping, gym) in undies just yet. I'm sure it will be a while before she is night trained, but no diapers all day long is awesome! I'm so proud of her!!

People. can. be. so. rude.

that's all.

All Aboard the Potty Train!

So far so good with the potty training. Val has been telling me when she has to 'go.' I can ask and ask and she always says NO or NO WAY, but a few minutes later she will tell me "momma, need use bathroom" or "need tee tee in potty." When she's done, she tells me to jump up and down, and immediately says "yay I get candy!" lol Clint took her to visit his relatives in Golden Meadow yesterday, and amazingly she told him she had to go over there! She had one accident in the past few days because I was busy with Veronica and Clint was outside and no one got to her fast enough. My little girl is growing up.

I'm taking a day or two break from the diet. I've been wanting something good to eat for the past few days, so I'm going to eat normally this weekend. Back on it Monday.

I started my Christmas shopping! I found this really cool acoustic guitar for Valerie at Wal-mart. She's always playing guitar with anything she can find that has a string. I got the girls matching PJs too. I have a few small toys already for Veronica. There are few more things I have in mind for the girls, but I'm going to try not to go overboard. They don't need that much stuff.

Four days of Valerie being in undies around the house! Only 3 accidents. She told me today "no more diapers!" If only!! I'm amazed she is doing this good with only a little bit of bribery. lol

Today was weigh in! No change... no gain, no loss during my second week on South Beach. It's okay though. I only went to the gym twice last week, so that had something to do with it I'm sure. I'm still 6 lbs less than I was, so it's a start. I'm thinking about continuing Phase 1 another week. It's hard to believe I have had zero flour and zero sugar for 14 days. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

Veronica has her first tooth! After days of constant whining, fussing, wanting to be held, and driving me nuts.... finally we know the reason why. I can feel the sharp edge of her right bottom front tooth peeking out of her gums. I guess the second one is not far behind. Bring on the fussiness!!

In other BIG news.... Valerie has been in big girl undies around the house for THREE days with only two accidents!!!! It is taking quite a bit of coaxing to get her to use the potty though. She tells me she doesn't like it. Obviously she is "holding it". So, I don't know how to make her go? If she can stay dry for hours, that is definitely a sign she's ready. I bribed her yesterday with the promise of going to the store for a present if she used the potty. Then later it was another trip to get candy. She even told the check out girl, "I pee pee in potty!" LOL!! We've ""called"" Dora, Mickey Mouse, AND Santa to share the good news too. I'm hopefully going to stay consistent - dresses and panties during the day at home. Pull ups when we leave the house. Diaper or pull up at night.

The other side of the world...

Umm. Clint is going to Bangkok for about 12 days next month. Eeegads.

shots and stuff....

Veronica's 6 month well baby visit was this morning. Thankfully she handled the shots MUCH better than last time. I gave her Motrin a few hours before we left, and Tylenol just before the shots. She weighed 17 lbs 10 oz, and measured 26"!!! I mentioned how sensitive she is, and the Doc said it's most likely a personality thing...

In other news... Today made one week on South Beach! I lost 5 or 6 lbs!!!! Not bad, considering I hadn't lost anything in 6 months!! It's been pretty easy to stick with too. One more week of Phase I to go....

P.S. I'm wearing some shorts that were way too tight a few months ago. :-)

Mickey Mouse!

It looks like there is a good chance (or better!) that we will be spending Veronica's first birthday in Disney World!!!!!!!

Clint wrote a paper and it was selected to be presented at a drilling conference in Orlando. All he has to to is prepare the manuscript and submit it by December. But he's IN, and of course we can't miss the chance to go.

Uhhhh... just thinking about flying with TWO little ones is already making me nervous!!!!

The Beach!

So it's day 4 on The Beach.... South Beach Diet that is. I haven't had sugar or flour in four days. I know a few people who have had great success with it, so I'm hoping it will do *something* for me. Maybe it will kick start the weight loss. I don't know though.... It's not that much of a change for me. The biggest challenge is breakfast since I usually have wheat toast. No bread for two weeks ... so it's mostly eggs or recipes based on eggs. I don't really like eggs. LOL! The only other big change is no snacking on graham crackers. I had a habit of eating a few crackers here and there during the day. Other than that... it's pretty easy to stick to the diet over all. Most of the foods on the avoid list I never or rarely eat anyway. 10 days of Phase I left to go!!

A Valerie post

I was up before the girls this morning, so when I heard Val stirring I went to her room. She was awake sitting in the middle of her new full sized bed. "I awake!" she said. "I awake! Don't got no dark! It not dark! Hiiiii sun! *as she waves at the window.* "Hiii!"

How funny is that... my silly little girl.

Happy Birthday...

My "newborn" is 6 months old today. Where does the time go?! It's hard to believe it's been a half year already....

And to think there are still some people who have NEVER come to see her. (And actually there are some people who have yet to see Valerie!!! )

Happy half birthday to my sweet baby girl!!

*** And just for fun, here is VALERIE around the same age. Do the look anything alike?!?

I don't know... maybe it is stupid to have been mad for not hearing from Clint on my birthday. It just made me feel really sad to not get a happy birthday from him until so late in the day. He says that was the first chance he had to call. And he is having some problems with his diabetes, so he was feeling really bad that day. The florist delivered my flowers -- 1 dozen red roses and a balloon about 6pm. He also gave me a card from the girls and a card from him and a subscription to "Taste of Home" magazine. But I still think he could have said/did something early in the day instead of nothing.

We spent Friday night and most of Saturday in Morgan City at the Shrimp and Petroleum Festival. Friday my parents kept both girls so we had a few hours out on our own. That was pretty nice, lol! We went to the festival, walked around the craft show, walked around the fair, and sat in the park to listen to a couple bands. I saw a few people I knew. My mom only called three times because Veronica screamed almost the whole time we were gone. *sigh* Saturday afternoon we went back with the intention of letting Valerie enjoy some of the kid stuff. We brought Veronica, who screamed and cried from the second we stepped onto the festival grounds until we put her in the car to leave. Too much noise, people, commotion, and too hot. *sigh* again. (I don't know what to do with her!!) After my mom got back from church, we left Veronica with my parents and took Valerie back. She LOVED it!!! She had the best time just being there and looking around. We're still hearing, "I like fair. Fair fun!" from her.

Tomorrow my mom and dad are coming here to BBQ for Labor Day. My dad is supposed to try and get a full size bed out of storage for Valerie. She hasn't wanted to stay in her bed for a while now, and I'm pretty sure it's because it's too small for her. She can't move and stretch out like she wants too. Her crib does convert to a full size bed, but I want to test it out before we actually buy her a new mattress and box spring. In case it doesn't work, we can easily go back to the toddler bed.

And Clint is leaving for Houston Tuesday... He won't be back until late Saturday night. :-(
