Birthday Party Girl!

Today we celebrated Valerie's sixth birthday with a few of her friends. She won't technically be six until a few days before Christmas, but with all the holiday things going on at that time I decided to try an early party this year. I wanted her to feel special and not have the distraction of Christmas hanging around. Honestly, I wasn't really "feeling it." It's so early and I'm used to having a party in the middle of Christmas!! I guess I am not ready for my baby to be six either!! It worked out well though. It was a GREAT day with GREAT friends. The weather was perfect. We rented a bounce house and had a pinata. We served hot dogs, chili, chips, and of course I made the cake. I put a lot of effort and prep work into her party. I put up decorations and we blew up about 40 balloons! I hope Val felt really special. Of course we will do something fun on her actual birthday, so in a way she will get two celebrations!

Oh and on a side note, I just don't get why people RSVP yes and then don't bother to show. Why tell me to my face they are coming, and then.... nothing. I understand things happen - sickness, etc. It would only take a second to send an email or text saying something had changed. So rude. Val was a little sad that her 'best friend' didn't come to her birthday party and asked about her several times. I feel bad that I don't have any answers for her.

Happy Birthday Party Day to my sweet Valerie!! I just love her so much.

  1. Happy 'early' Birthday! Great job on the cake! Looks so yummy!

  2. She looks like she had a fabulous time! Can't believe she is 6 already. The cake looks fabulous as usual; what talent you have!

  3. We had a great time, thanks again for the invite. As far as the no-show RSVP's, some people just don't get it.

  4. OMG.
    I am shocked!

How long has it been since my last visit? How come Valerie is now a big 6 year old girl??

    They are gorgeous, Melanie, congratulations!
I am really thrilled to see the pictures of them, awesome!
Hope everything is alright with you all!
