Hey Y'all.

Hello once again Holidailies.  Or Hey y'all.  If I am remembering correctly, this is my fifth year participating.  I am from Louisiana, where it is hot and muggy 360 days out of the year. We often wear shorts... even on Christmas.   I'm sure hearing a mention of Cajun country makes you wonder if we have a pet alligator or if Mardi Gras is something you should go to.  The answer is no, not in the house-- and a definite yes.  Movies portray us as living on the bayou, uneducated and barefoot with silly accents.  Partially true. I'll never forget meeting some people from Texas and they were full of questions and seriously wanted to know if we all lived in houseboats in the swamp??  Uh, no.   Another thing you probably think of is food, and we have lots of tasty dishes that can't be found anywhere else. We know how to cook 'round here!  Gumbo and jambalaya anyone??  Oh and those 'Cajun' restaurants up north do NOT know what they are doing.  A friend in California once told me he had jambalaya and it was shrimp in a red gravy with mushrooms.  And they served it over white rice.  I about fainted because that couldn't be more wrong.  Oddly enough, even though I was born and raised here, I am not a seafood fanatic but will occasionally partake if it's cooked to my liking.  My husband always says if civilization as we know it crumbles, we'd be most likely to survive because we all grew up living off the land - hunting, fishing, and trapping has been a way of life for ages.  Everybody had a boat and everybody has gunS.

If you've been here before, welcome back!  For anyone new - I'm a Stay at Home Mommy of two girls - Valerie and Veronica - who provide endless sources of entertainment  We also recently grew from a cat family of two to three.  SassyCat is the oldest, Bella is the middle cat, and Pepper is the baby.

I leave you with a picture of moi.

Y'all come back now, ya hear?

  5. Living in Louisiana sounds like fun! Except for the alligators part. I would not want them to eat my little dog. But the short and T-shirts even on Christmas part sounds wonderful!

This is the best introduction ever!
We have multiple TV shows showing over here (in Australia) about people from your area. That live in swamps. With boats. And gators.

  10. I loved your Holidailies intro post! And what a beautiful picture of you!!! I'm dying at your comment about living in the heart/home of some of the "Swamp People". My husband loves to DVR that show. He even stood in line at Bass Pro to see the group that toured! I'll have to google RJ and Jay Paul, I can't remember which ones they are!

They are bad boys around here. They recently got arrested for attacking someone in a store parking lot. They claim innocence but I'm not so sure!
