Chilly Friday

We have winter!!  We've had a few chilly days and nights, but real southern winter has finally arrived.  Tonight's lows are in the 30s, which isn't unheard of but it only happens a few times a year.  It'll be back to the 70s by Sunday and that's fine with me. I just hope it's cold for Christmas. Supposedly this is going to be a cold winter, so we shall see.  I wouldn't mind a little snow, but there isn't much chance that will happen this far south.

We have a pretty busy weekend ahead.  Tomorrow, Saturday, is the annual Christmas breakfast at Chic-fil-a.  "Santa Cow" is there for pictures and there's crafts for the kids.  There's sometimes "snow" as well, which is usually just teeny tiny bubbles that melt with you touch them.  It's usually madness, but as long as the girls want to go, we'll bring them.  Soon they will be too old for such things.....

Speaking of....

Then in the afternoon, it's Valerie's 12th birthday party!!  Her actual birthday is the 21st, but we always have her party a few weeks early because nobody would come to a birthday party on Christmas weekend.  We usually have home parties, but she requested a party at a local gymnastics business this year.  The sad thing is one of her BFFs is having her birthday party the same day, same time.  Since they pal around with the same girls, it's going to be a toss up as to who comes to Val's party or goes to the other girl's.  I just hope a couple of her school friends show.

After her party, Val wants to stop at the mall to listen to the community band Christmas concert.   We've gone the past few years since she has an interest in band now.  It's always a nice, family outing.   There's also free "ice" skating inside the mall.  I'm not sure what kind of rink they will have.  I doubt it's real ice.  I've seen the faux 'ice rinks' around here before that is a wooden floor and soap!  I'm not brave enough to even think of trying, but the kids both want to.

Have a good weekend y'all!
