The choir kid

It's been a whirlwind of excitement the past few days.

First, last Wednesday Veronica was invited to the monthly school board meeting to be awarded a plaque for being chosen for All-State Honor Choir.  Very proud of my girl!  She worked so hard to learn the audition piece of music.  I know it was hard for her to find the courage to sing for the audition, but she did it.

The next day, Thursday, Veronica and I headed to spend three days in New Orleans for All-State Choir rehearsals and performance.  Thursday night was a 3 hour rehearsal.  Friday was an all day 8-5 rehearsal.  I sat in and listened for a while, then I wandered around the Riverwalk to kill some time.  Long day of waiting around! Saturday was another full day with a morning rehearsal and the concerts were in the afternoon.  There are several choirs that perform from children to high school age, so the event pretty much lasts all day long.  We were able to catch a few of them and all the groups we were able to watch were just fabulous!  It is amazing how these kids learn the music on their own time, and how it all comes together so well.

We returned about 5pm on Saturday to an empty house because....

Meanwhile, back at home marching band was in full swing for Valerie as the end of marching season was days away, as was the big state competition.
