Christmas Eve

It certainly does not feel like Christmas Eve.  All the drama this past week sort of stole my Christmas spirit.  It could be worse.  We got word that the "big name oil business" that Clint works for let a few more people go yesterday on the Eve of Christmas Eve!  How shitty is that??  No one is safe at the moment it seems....  tough times.  I won't complain about where we're at in the grand scheme of things.

Anyway Valerie, Veronica, and I made a quick trip to the mall yesterday afternoon.  With all the running around we hadn't had time for a Santa picture!!  It is one of those things we must do, or at least I think so.  The kids, not so much.  They said they didn't wanna, but in the end they went willingly.  Go figure.  I have 14 years of Santa pictures on display on my piano and I'm not about to quit now!!

The first one of them together

Today... well today I have a ton of things to do.  We aren't going anywhere, but I need to do some prep work for Christmas Eve and Day dinner.  We actually thought about going out for Chinese tomorrow instead of me cooking, but the kids don't really eat enough to justify the adult buffet charge.  Plus there's no leftovers!!  Tonight we'll enjoy our party food, take pictures, and open the gifts under the tree.  Santa will pass later and bring the good stuff.  Maybe it's the last year.  "Santa" hasn't decided yet.  The girls know by now of course, but it's still fun to surprise them.

Time to put on some Christmas music and get busy.  Merry Christmas Eve everyone!!!

  2. I loved the Santa pictures with the kids. We didn't do the Santa thing of bringing gifts but every year we went and got pictures taken which I loved to see how much they grew from year to year :)

Like I said yesterday, just enjoy Christmas!

    Merry Christmas Eve!

  3. I want to see this tradition continue into, say, their 30s. Way into the point of absurdity. :)

In all seriousness, what adorable pictures and a nice memento of the passing years.

  5. Oh my gosh, we are going out to Chinese tomorrow too! It's been a tradition in our family for years. What a great tradition for the girls to take pictures with Santa. These are cute pictures through the years. I'm sorry you have a lot on your plate right now. So many people I know are very uncertain about their future.

Merry Christmas. So glad to have met you this year.

  6. Since we aren't celebrating Christmas until the 28th, I thought going out for Chinese tomorrow would be a good idea, but NONE of the many Chinese restaurants in this town are open!

I hate to think of all the people who were fired or had their income cut right before Christmas. WWJD???
