Our Journey

I hear "our" song on the radio from time to time.  Honestly, I don't even remember how we picked this song.  I think it was probably the only one we could mostly agree on for our first dance.  Who doesn't like Journey?

It dawned on me sometime ago that this song about being on the road fits us, even now.  If you change 'music man' to 'oilfield man', well that'd be us.

Highway run into the midnight sun
Wheels go 'round and 'round, you're on my mind
Restless hearts sleep alone tonight
Sendin' all my love along the wire

They say that the road ain't no place to start a family
Right down the line it's been you and me
And lovin' a music man  oilfield man ain't always what it's supposed to be
Oh, girl you stand by me, I'm forever yours, faithfully

Circus life under the big top world
We all need the clowns to make us smile
Through space and time, always another show
Wondering where I am lost without you

And bein' apart ain't easy on this love affair
Two strangers learn to fall in love again
I get the joy of rediscovering you
Oh girl, you stand by me, I'm forever yours, faithfully
Oh...
Faithfully, I'm still yours....
I'm forever yours, ever yours....
Faithfully

In our seventeen years, we've spent much time apart and it hasn't been easy. I'm sure there has been thousands of phone calls, emails, and texts.  Whether it was commuting to his office almost 100 miles away, or spending a week in Houston, traveling to the equator, or to the other side of the world... Sometimes away for weeks into months.  Clint's work travels have sent him on all sorts of adventures, all the while we are here waiting patiently for him to return.  We had a nice few years break from all that.  Now with this new position based in Houston, we've come full circle and we're right back to being apart quite often again.

Anyway, 17 years ago today we said "I do" and I still do!

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you!

  3. Happy Anniversary to you and Clint!!! Such a handsome groom and beautiful bride!! Lovely wedding photos!! Life truly is an adventure isn't it? We really have no idea when we say "I do" how things will turn out, but that commitment and love together keeps making the adventure doable, even in the midst of long separations like you and Clint have had! Wishing you many more wonderful years together!

  5. Happy Anniversary, and what a lovely couple you are. The red and pink roses made me smile. I've always liked red and pink together. What a special day for a wedding, on Valentine's Day.
